Brouillard (1994) for piano and soundtracks
Brouillard is a combination of the piano as live instrument and the reproduction of prepared piano string sounds using different tunings. The pianist performs in this microtonal environment as in a haze with his well-tempered instrument. An interaction of new chords and colours results. Soft rustling 'sound veils' and fierce signals accompany the pianist, playing as if tentatively finding his way. Commissioned by the Fonds voor de Scheppende Toonkunst.
