The Prix Ton Bruynèl 2007 is won by Japanese composer Yutaka Makino for his work 'Cryosphere' for tape solo.
This prize (5000 Euro) is intended for a new work, to be premiered during the International Gaudeamus Music Week 2008. The winning piece was performed in the International Gaudeamus Music Week 2007.

The jury also awarded two mentions of 1500 Euro to Alexandra Gardner (USA) for 'Tourmaline' and to the de German composer Daniel Göritz for his work 'Decadance II'.


 

Yutaka Makino(1976) Yutaka Makino's work seeks to integrate the historic precedent of electronic music in a contemporary context, involving research in psycho-acoustic phenomena and spatial perception.


Alexandra Gardner is a graduate of Vassar College, and The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. She has studied with Annea lockwood, Richard Wilson, Morton Subotnick, Ronald Caltabiano, Augusta Read Thomas, Bernard Rands, John Harbison, Pauline Oliveros and Chen Yi.

Her music combines explorations into the rich details of acoustic sound with a visceral percussive energy to create dynamic sonic landscapes. Drawing inspiration from sources ranging from mythology and contemporary poetry to her training as a percussionist and collaborations with cutting-edge musicians and artists, Gardner is building new audiences for contemporary music with an expressive sound and a flair for the imaginative and unexpected.


Daniel Göritz was born in 1965 in East-Berlin. From 1986 till 1991 classical guitar studies with Prof. Inge Wilczok at the Academy of Music 'Hanns Eisler' in Berlin, graduating with a first class diploma.
1991-93 Professional Performance Diploma and Master of Arts Degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, U.K. as a British Council Scholarship student of Gordon Crosskey and John Williams (visiting professor), guitar and David Gilbert, composition.
1994-96 Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Manhattan School of Music New York, assistant of David Starobin. His activities are wide-spread between classical and contemporary Music, being active as a interpreter, composer and improviser.
